Prose Submission Guidelines

LITERARY FICTION

You may submit up to two short stories or one novel excerpt (up to 20 pages total).  Work must be typed, double-spaced, size 12 font, Times New Roman, with page numbers. 

As we are a literary journal, literary fiction and realism are preferred to genre/commercial fiction, such as fantasy, sci-fi, or fan fiction. Submissions will be judged on the basis of character development, voice, sophistication of idea, and storytelling ability. 

Please send a GOOGLE DOC of your fiction to hanginglanternreview@gmail.com with an email introducing yourself. In your email, please provide a short bio including your name, grade, school, and some interests, along with the title of your piece. 

CREATIVE NONFICTION

You may submit up to two non-fiction pieces, up to 20 pages long. This might include a personal/lyric essay, a creative research paper, or an insightful book review. Work must be typed, double-spaced, size 12 font, Times New Roman, with page numbers. 

Please send a GOOGLE DOC of your non-fiction to hanginglanternreview@gmail.com with an email introducing yourself. In your email, please provide a short bio including your name, grade, school, and some interests, along with the title of your piece.
